About Me

I have spent seven years as a technical writer breaking down complex concepts into concisely worded documentation. My writing is made easier by my graduate degree in professional writing and my documentation deliverables have a reputation of being timely and error-free. I feel at home in both traditional and agile-conscious development environments. My most recent agile experience involved stepping outside the traditional model to create topic-based documentation for a complex translation module.

As you will see from my resume, SV Technology and Narus renewed my contract on two separate occasions. At Narus, my documentation, which was awarded the Everest prize for excellence, showed telecommunication companies how to use our analytical technologies to make sense of, and monetize, large and unwieldy data streams that flowed across their networks. At SV Technology, the foremost creator of a collaboration and content management portal for the legal industry, I took the lead, creating documentation where none had existed. My documentation not only helped our clients, but was also leveraged internally to train every new employee. Furthermore, previous managers have told me that I excel at information gathering and have a talent for asking the right questions of subject matter experts. I attribute this to my friendly and open disposition, one that I would be excited to extend to your team if given the opportunity.

It has been seven years since my last technical writing contract. Since then I have held jobs that have allowed me to pursue interests outside of the tech industry, such as:

  • Assisting the Robert Schalkenback Foundation as a Production Assistant with projects designed to promote ideas of social justice and economic reform;
  • Joining the SF-Marin Food Bank full-time as a Customer Service Representative to help lessen growing economic hardships with supplemental food programing;
  • Teaming up with Sur La Table, an upmarket cookware retailer, to serve in the world of culinary ambitions great and small;
  • Collaborating cross-functionally as an exceptionally hardworking Senior Clinical Administrative Assistant at Hospice by the Bay, assisting throughout with my writing and editing knowhow, my can-do enthusiasm, and my deep compassion for hospice patients and for those who care for them.

At present, I am eager to return to technical writing. I find that it is work into which I can thoroughly immerse myself. To join in the creation of highly functional documentation sets, those which allow readers to achieve their objectives with ease, has always been a rewarding pursuit of mine.

Thank you for stopping by.

All the Best,

Julia Horvath
